International Women's Day March 8 is an official holiday in most countries of the former Soviet Union. Most banks, official buildings and educational institutions are closed on this day, although shops and kiosks usually stay open. Public transport may run less frequently than usual.
International Women’s Day is often celebrated among family or friends with a festive meal and drinks. Many women receive flowers, cards and other gifts on March 8.
Perhaps this holiday happy, not only women, but the flower sellers. Tulips, mimosa and roses are the main colors that give the women on this day. Not sure what to give the woman on March 8? Give flowers! This is a good and right gift. Just do not give yellow flowers (mimosa exception) and the number of colors must be odd (1,3,5 ..).
Now look old Soviet postcards. Many of them are very interesting.
